Questions About This Product

The things people actually want to know before they cook with it.

Does this tea contain caffeine?
Yes. Bigelow gives an approximate range of 30 to 60 mg caffeine per 8 fl oz serving for its black teas.
Is it sweetened?
No. There is no sugar in the bag. The vanilla flavor reads as sweet, which is why many people drink it without adding anything.
Does it contain dairy or nuts?
No dairy and no nuts. The flavoring carries soy lecithin, so it is not soy free.
Which spices are in it?
Bigelow lists them simply as spices. In the cup most people pick up cinnamon first, then cardamom and a little clove, all softened by the vanilla.
How is it different from Bigelow Constant Comment?
Constant Comment is black tea with orange rind and spice and tastes citrusy. Vanilla Chai has no orange; it is the warmer, creamier cup of the two and the one to pick for lattes.
Can I brew it in milk on the stove?
Yes. Simmer two bags gently in a cup of milk with a splash of water for about 5 minutes, then sweeten. Keep the heat low so the milk does not scorch.
