Don Pepino Pizza Sauce is a fully prepared pizza sauce made from vine-ripened Jersey tomatoes, corn oil, salt, spices and garlic, cooked to a smooth, spreadable consistency. It tastes of fresh tomato with light garlic and herb seasoning, with no added sugar and no tomato paste, starches or gums, so it spreads thin and bakes clean without turning sweet. Pizzerias and home cooks have used the same recipe since 1950.

This 2 pack holds two 14.5 oz (411 g) cans, 29 oz (822 g) in all, about 7 quarter-cup servings per can. One can sauces three to five 12-inch pizzas, and the lighter texture also works as a dip for breadsticks and mozzarella sticks or a quick base for pasta.

Open the can and spread the sauce straight onto pizza dough, about 1/3 to 1/2 cup for a 12-inch pizza, then top and bake. No cooking or seasoning is needed. Warm it gently for a dipping sauce, or simmer a few minutes with a splash of water for pasta.

Store unopened cans in a cool, dry pantry. After opening, move leftovers to a covered glass or plastic container, refrigerate and use within 5 to 7 days, or freeze in portions for up to 3 months.

What is the difference between pizza sauce and pasta sauce?
Pizza sauce is thicker and goes on the dough raw, so it should taste bright and fresh after baking. Pasta sauce is thinner and already cooked with more seasoning. Don Pepino also makes a separate spaghetti sauce for pasta.
