A rinse aid is not a detergent and does not do any scrubbing. It lowers the surface tension of the water in your dishwasher's final rinse so the water sheets off in a film rather than beading up and drying in place. Those beads are what leave the chalky spots and cloudy streaks on glassware, and they are also why plastic tubs come out of the cycle still wet. Wave Jet is the rinse aid from ECOS, the Earth Friendly Products line, in a lemon-scented, concentrated 8 oz bottle.

It goes in the small covered rinse aid well next to the detergent cup in the door, not in with the detergent itself. Fill it to the mark and top it up roughly once a month, or whenever the little indicator window on the door clears.

How many loads does an 8 oz bottle cover?
The bottle is rated at roughly 75 loads. The real figure depends on your machine, since most dishwashers let you dial the rinse aid dose up or down and a higher setting empties the reservoir sooner.
Will it work in any dishwasher?
It works in any dishwasher built to meter a rinse aid into the final rinse, which covers essentially all modern machines.
