Dubai chocolate started with a filled bar made in Dubai that went viral on TikTok in late 2023, and the flavour has since become a category of its own. Leonessa's version trades the thick slab for ten small Belgian milk chocolate cones packed in a gable box, which is a tidier thing to hand round than a bar you have to snap.

The filling is pistachio kunafa: a pistachio cream stirred through kataifi, the shredded phyllo pastry used in Middle Eastern knafeh, toasted until it crackles. That crunch against the soft cream is the whole reason the trend took hold, and the cone shape delivers more of it per bite, since the shell is thin and the filling runs right down to the tip.

Set them out with coffee at the end of a meal, bring the box to a party, or keep it back as a small gift. They are rich, so one or two is a portion.

Is this made in Dubai?
No. Dubai chocolate is the name of a style, milk chocolate filled with pistachio cream and shredded kataifi pastry, rather than a statement about where a product is made. Leonessa is its own brand, the chocolate it uses is Belgian, and the cones themselves are produced in Turkey.
Is this the bar everyone was posting about?
No, that is a different product. The original is called Can't Get Knafeh of It, made by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai and sold only through its own online shop there, which is why very few people outside the UAE have actually eaten it. Everything on shelves elsewhere, this included, is another maker's take on the same idea.
How much chocolate is in the box?
The box holds 135 grams across ten cones, so each cone is about 13 or 14 grams, roughly two bites. Altogether that is around the weight of three standard chocolate bars, split into ten pieces.
Are these frozen, like an ice cream cone?
No. They are room-temperature confectionery: a thin baked wafer cone, filled and enrobed in chocolate. The cone is closer to a wafer biscuit than to the cone under a scoop of ice cream, and nothing here needs a freezer.
