Lorna Doone Shortbread Cookies, Kosher, 1 oz, 30 Packs
$30.65
Product Details
Lorna Doone is Nabisco's shortbread cookie, on shelves since 1912 and named, by most tellings, after the heroine of R. D. Blackmore's Victorian novel. This is the caterer's format rather than the cookie-jar one: thirty sealed 1 oz sleeves, four small golden squares in each.
The appeal is how plain it is. A dry, sandy, buttery crumb, sweet in a restrained way, which is why it sits so well beside coffee, tea or a glass of milk and why it has stayed on menus for a century. The sleeves are certified kosher, worth knowing if you are stocking a shared kitchen or a mixed-diet dining room.
Cafeterias, hospital and senior-living trays, and clinic waiting rooms have run on this format for decades, and it behaves the same way in an office breakroom, a classroom drawer or a packed lunch: one sleeve is one serving, so portions stay predictable and each sleeve stays sealed until somebody opens it.
