Concession Essentials Flavacol Popcorn Seasoning Salt, 35 oz
$8.99
Product Details
Flavacol is the popcorn salt made by Gold Medal Products of Cincinnati, Ohio, and sold here under the Concession Essentials label. It is the seasoning used behind concession counters: a fine, flake-form salt with artificial butter flavor that goes in with the kernels and the oil before popping rather than being shaken on afterward. The flakes are milled finer than table-salt crystals so they cling to the popped corn, and the FD&C Yellow #5 Lake and Yellow #6 Lake coloring is what turns a batch the yellow associated with movie-theater popcorn.
Each carton holds 35 oz (992 g) and has a folding spout on top for pouring. Gold Medal's directions call for about half a teaspoon mixed with 8 ounces of kernels and the oil before popping, and the company lists the product for cinema, concession stand, and event use. It is certified Kosher Pareve and Halal and made in the USA, and Gold Medal describes the formula as MSG-free.
