Plantation Blackstrap Molasses, 15 oz Glass Jar, 3 Pack

Three 15 fl oz (442 ml) glass bottles of Plantation Blackstrap Unsulphured Molasses. Blackstrap is the syrup left after the third and final pressing of sugar cane, which is what gives it its very dark colour and its heavy, faintly bitter, subtly nutty character rather than the straightforward sweetness of lighter molasses.

It is the grade cooks reach for when a recipe wants depth rather than sweetness: Boston baked beans, gingerbread, brown bread, barbecue sauces and glazes, and dark rye doughs. It is markedly less sweet than light or dark molasses, so recipes written for those are normally adjusted rather than swapped one for one.
