Black is the most literal shade Surya Brasil offers, and the easiest to predict. On hair that is already dark it reads as a dense, slightly blue-leaning black with a lot of surface shine; on medium brown it drops several steps at once, which is worth picturing before committing. It is the least forgiving shade in the line precisely because it is the most opaque.

Like the rest of the henna cream range it is semi-permanent and deposit-only, sitting on the outside of the hair instead of lifting what is underneath. Grays pick up the tone and blend toward the surrounding hair rather than matching it exactly, and the color fades down over about ten to twelve washes, so the edge between colored and new growth stays soft.
