Surya Brasil makes its henna creams in Brazil, and Dark Brown is the shade in the range that gets reached for most often: a deep, cool-leaning coffee brown that sits a step short of black. On mid to dark hair it reads as added depth and surface shine more than an obvious change of color; on lighter or previously lightened hair it behaves like a toner and lands noticeably darker than the shade name suggests.
This is a semi-permanent, deposit-only color. It coats the hair rather than lifting the pigment underneath, so it can take hair darker or richer but never lighter, and grays take the tone as a soft blend rather than an opaque block. It washes down gradually over roughly ten to twelve shampoos, softening as it goes instead of leaving a hard regrowth line.
