Texas Pete Original Hot Sauce, 6 oz

A 6 oz bottle of Texas Pete Original, a hot sauce whose recipe has stayed short. It is made by the T.W. Garner Food Company of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which traces the recipe to 1929, is still family run, and still works from the original site in the northwest of the city. Texas Pete rates the Original at the mild end of its range, below the Hotter version and the specialty sauces.

It pours thin rather than thick, so it goes on in splashes — eggs, fried chicken, greens, pizza, barbecue — and by the spoonful into soups, chili and dressings. Six ounces is the middle size Texas Pete bottles the Original in, between the 3-ounce and the 12-ounce.
