Pathfinder Hemp & Root Non-Alcoholic Spirit, 700 ml

The Pathfinder is a non-alcoholic spirit made from hemp that is fermented and then distilled in copper pot stills, the same sequence a distiller would follow for a botanical spirit. The maker states the finished bottle contains no alcohol. It is meant to be measured and mixed the way gin or amaro would be.

The flavor is bitter and root driven. Wormwood and angelica root give it a dry, earthy backbone, a resinous evergreen note runs through the middle, and citrus peel lifts the finish. It is assertive stuff, and a heavy hand will take over a glass, so most people start near an ounce and a half.

Use it where an amaro or a botanical gin would sit: a negroni style build with an aperitivo alternative and a vermouth alternative, lengthened with tonic or soda water and an orange twist, shaken into a sour with lemon and simple syrup, or poured over one large cube with a peel.
